How many times have you tried to open a program or file with a dead shortcut? D’oh! Shortcuts are helpful, but the location to the files that the shortcuts point to can often change. Think about it - maybe you’ve uninstalled the program some time ago, or have manually moved the file to another location. If this is done, the shortcut will be all by its lonesome. There’s no reason to have a bunch of shortcuts sitting around that point to improper locations. To clean out the lifeless shortcuts, download OrphansRemover.
There’s no confusion to this program. All you have to do is select some predetermined folders to search for the shortcuts in, and you can even specify another folder that you would like to go through. You should then decide whether you’d like to include broken links to files on a network, removable drives, etc. The next step is to scan your computer for the shortcuts, and then delete those that are found. Now you can tell those unhelpful shortcuts to pack up their things and get out of town. [912K] [Win9x/2k/XP] [FREE]
