Q: I currently have a software firewall running on my computer. I know that there are hardware options, and was curious as to whether they were any better. What are the benefits of each? Should I use a software and hardware firewall together?
A: Having any type of firewall on your computer is essential in this day and age. By just installing a simple software firewall, you’re doing a world of good for your protection. Hardware firewalls are just another preventative measure to help keep you safe. Just so you know, it’s perfectly fine to run a software and hardware option side by side. For example, in my home setup, I use the firewall capabilities of my router along with software protection. There are advantages to each method, but using them together helps you to go the extra mile.
