Remember the dot-com boom of the late nineties? Entrepreneurs and others wanting to make a quick buck all jumped on the bandwagon hoping for success. Several millionaires emerged from this period, but it wasn’t caviar dreams for everyone. The subsequent crash of the industry left multitudes of people in the digital dust. I’m sure that we can all think back to a good (or dreadful) company that went under. Ebituaries: Home of Dead Dot-Coms catalogues the failure of some of these companies.
You may recognize a couple of the down and out businesses listed here. Each company featured has a screenshot of their homepage after they went under. Some of the messages are humorous, while others tell the sad tale of trying to make it in the new economy. If you’d like, you can even make comments about the company, and the goodbye message that they posted. It’s all pretty sad when you think about it. I mean, I can think of numerous occasions when LifeJacketStore.com would have been helpful.
