CouchSurfing

Posted by on Aug 30, 2004 | 3 Comments

Contrary to its name, this isn’t about surfing on the Internet from your sofa or couch. Why stay in hotels when you can stay with locals? CouchSurfing puts you in touch with locals who have a couch or two available. Save money and get a feel for the local culture by staying at CouchSurfer’s home. The site has verification and vouching systems in place to help readers feel secure about welcoming a guest or accepting an invitation. You can read an article about the Web site on the Chicago Tribune (free registration required). What a cool and creative way to see the world.

Be very very careful when using this software. Selecting the right version for your operating system is critical. I also wouldn’t recommend it for enterprise support. Stick with Disk Utilities > Fix Permissions to be safe.
