Clearing Toolbar Space

Q: The main toolbar in Internet Explorer that has the Back, Forward, and Home buttons has other things on there that I would like to get rid of. They just take up space, and I see no use for them. Also, I’ll sometimes accidentally drag the toolbars out of place, which gets really aggravating. How can I resolve these problems?

A: I appreciate a clean look in all of the software that I use. It really annoys me when there are extra buttons that I will never use cluttering up the interface. To take control of your IE toolbar, right-click on it and select Customize. This is where you add and remove the icons that you want to reside on your toolbar, and you can also change a couple of text and icon options here. Things will start looking much better after you apply the changes.

I’m right there with you in regards to accidentally dragging the toolbar out of shape all of the time. To prevent yourself from mangling it continually, right-click on the toolbar and select Lock the Toolbars. Your browser will thank you later.

I don’t like giving a tip like this because it means that you actually have to use IE to apply it, and that’s just wrong. In this age of the alternative browser, who uses Internet Exploder anymore?
