New Winferno Software Suite Stops Spyware, ActiveX, and Internet Explorer Vulnerabilities

Posted by on Aug 2, 2004 | 27 Comments

Winferno Software has announced its Secure IE 2004 Suite with new features that increase Web-browser security and privacy, acting as a first line of defense for Web browsing, much like anti-virus software does for e-mail. The suite protects against inadvertent malicious downloads like keystroke logging and spyware from Web sites. No other software suite provides users with all the features they need in one integrated package to make the Internet experience safer, faster and better every time they browse.

The Suite’s new security features include BrowserShield, which filters out prohibited content, limits ActiveX to a safe list and routes all file downloads through the user’s virus scanner. As a result, risks from keystroke loggers, password loggers, Spyware, ActiveX, and JavaScript are greatly reduced. Users also get features like the Internet Security Advisor for safely and easily surfing the Web without the need to regularly set and update security settings on a computer. The new weekly AutoUpdate feature keeps users current with Winferno’s latest security software.

New privacy features include automatically clearing private information such as cookies and browser history from non-trusted sites at the end of every Internet session. Productivity features include tabbed Web browsing; the ability to save multiple sites as a single file; and an integrated download manager that monitors multiple Web site downloads.

The suite bundles three stand-alone programs: Secure IE 2004, Private IE 2004, and Rapid IE 2004. Secure IE maximizes security and protects the computer from hackers and restricts what Web sites can and cannot do to the user. Private IE removes sensitive personal information from the computer and enables users to browse without a trace. Rapid IE significantly boosts Internet speed.

Secure IE 2004 Suite Pricing and Availability:
Winferno Software’s Secure IE 2004 Suite is available immediately at a retail price of $49.95. Current users of Secure IE may upgrade to the new version at a 50% discount. Stand-alone components of the Suite, like Secure IE, are available for $29.95. A free, fully functional, 15-day trial version is available to all users. The Secure IE 2004 Suite may be purchased from secureie.com. All Winferno software comes with a 30-day, 100% money back guarantee.

I filled out necessary forms, etc. and purchased what I thought was a
new version of McAfee Security Center thru your company Winferno.
After repeated attempts at reaching you I am now going to the BBB to
find out if you really do exist and if so why you do not answer your
    patrons questions, etc.

This is not a good way to conduct a business.

I am placing a “dispute” on a billling amount shown on my credit card bill. I did not order nor use this particular service charged to me by Winferno and cannot seem to get any information to show how, when or where this Winferno charge came from. I believe I am being cheated by someone. I have not received any software from anyone involved in this charge. I am not paying this bill and therefore the credit card company will not release the billed amount to Winferno without evidence that it was a legitimate charge. Please respond to this E-Mail asap to clear this matter up and to show proof that it was really ordered. Thank you.

I have been charged $29.95 for whatever your service is and have an address zipsimpson@aol.com & Password but cannot get through your system as it does not let me contact you. If this service is supposed to be a claning service I would be glad to use it. However, since I signed up unintentionally I have almost no uses as my computer is so screwed up. Please let me know what to do. Robert O. Simons

Wow, this could well be the funniest comment thread I’ve ever seen.

Do any of you people realize that Lockergnome did not sell you this software and was just printing a press release?

You’d have better luck getting Time magazine, where you’ve seen ample mention of President Bush, to nullify the preceding elections.

    Too Funny.

Doesn’t even Apple recommend to drain your battery 100% on a regular basis to keep it working? Not clear on this one.

    • Krypticpulse

I agree, what’s up with that? Do they mean just dont store it completely discharge or not to discharge at all?

One of the value of Macs (though I seem to get a new one every year) is that they both retain value and usefullness for a long time. My kids are still using a PowerBook G4 12-inch running OS 10.5 and for surfing the web and their flash-based games it’s just fine. It is maxed on RAM (1.25gb), but still has the 40gb Hard Drive. They don’t have lots of software, pictures or movies/songs/apps so it’s just find for them.

@onedread You want to drain the battery fully about once a month. When you fully drain a Li-Polymer/Li-ion battery it loses some of its maximum capacity. If you never drain it then the battery life estimator will gradually lose accuracy causing you to think the battery isn’t lasting as long as it used to. The solution is to drain it about once a month, that way the battery life indicator will know the capacity of the battery, and it keeps you from hurting the battery. Besides the monthly drain you want to charge the battery as often as possible if you’re always using it. Keep it at ~40% charge for storage, this is how the batteries are shipped inside the mac-books so even apple agrees that it is the way to store them.
