Changing MS Word Defaults
Q: I have Microsoft Word 2000, and would like to change the default setting for my documents. Each time I start with a normal document, the margin settings and font type have to be changed. How do I modify these defaults?
A: It is bothersome when you have to change your document settings each time you open up Microsoft Word. If you use the software a lot, you’re going to want to fix this annoyance immediately. Thankfully, it’s really easy to do.
To change your margin settings, go to the File menu and click on Page Setup. Set the page up in a satisfactory way, and then click on the Default button at the bottom left corner of the window. A confirmation box asking you if you’re sure that you want to change the default settings will appear. Click yes to apply the changes.
Changing your default font is just as easy. Go to the Format menu and click on Font. Specify the correct font settings and then click on the Default button in this window. Confirm the changes, and you’re good to go!
Modifying these defaults to something a little more acceptable will make your word processing experience much more pleasant. [Brandon Watts]
