The smiley face has done a lot for our Internet life. Need proof? Just try to avoid the onslaught of happy face emoticons in e-mail, instant messaging, and the Web. You can even use a smiley graphic as the sole content of an e-mail reply. They can get the point across in a very brief but adequate way. Is it so wrong for people to be happy? Well, some people pollute their messages with too many of these “everything is perfect in the world” faces. Some individuals (due to habit) may even throw in a happy face when writing an unfriendly letter. If you’re a fan of the smiley face, or are taking muscles relaxers and are ready for some happy-happy fun time, check out Smiley World.

This site is so sugary sweet that you’re probably going to need a root canal after visiting it. You can download a smiley toolbar and instant messenger from the site. These tools will allow you to throw tons of different faces into your messages. You can also download wallpaper, icons, and other goodies. Be prepared for greeting cards, too. Look through their emoticon database to find a slew of new key combinations. Now I know the emoticon symbols for Darth Vader and Robocop. My life is officially complete. Links to smiley resources for kids and babies are also available. I’m so happy I could vomit. [Brandon Watts]
