It may be redundant to have this video here for those of you already following Chris - but all jokes aside, it really does illustrate how much and how often I’d like Comcast to have a party with my middle finger. Should I just switch to Verizon, or are reports that they’ve been doing similar things for a while now, true?
Some people think it’s okay to block p2p traffic, but that really isn’t the point to me - it’s that I pay for unlimited access, and I suffer even though I’m not using p2p just because they think I might be because I’m a power user.
That’s BS.
It makes it that much harder for small businesses to survive, even when we go out of our way to purchase commercial accounts and run our operations without cutting the corners. Beyond that, don’t say “Unlimited access” if it’s not. Don’t sneak it into T’s and C’s, state it loud and clear and upfront, and don’t grandfather old account holders in under the new laws.

Hehe, Comcast doesn’t provide ESPNU, the carrier of two major games in Indiana tonight (Butler v. Ohio St. and SIU v. Indiana), yet Comcast was an advertiser on the radio broadcast of the Butler game (to which we were relegated). Sigh.

Sigh indeed. Sometimes I think we should burn it all down and start over. But 1 - don’t quote me on that and 2 - attention Homeland Security. This is a joke.

Yeah, and what happened to the idea of superimposing high-speed Internet signals on the house wiring? Free Internet available to all? Not on their watch! Comcast is a tight-fisted, greedy little company, highly secretive and rather scary. I won’t say they’ve actually assassinated anyone, but somehow they impose their will on the government agencies, like something large moving in the dark, gradually suffocating, dissolving and eating everything healthy that tries to grow. Why do the corporate big boys want to play this evil, dominating game, when there is enough for all and everybody can be prosperous? Competition? Well as John D. Rockefeller once said, “Competition is a sin”. It doesn’t matter to Comcast that they can no longer handle the traffic on the existing cable infrastructure all by themselves, and I watch them every day throttling back one or another of my downloads visibly until it hits DSL speed, or I watch the much bragged about, so-called “Power Boost” hitting supersonic download speed for about two to three seconds and then choking back to piddling again for the rest of the tedious download. Bittorrent? Fie! No Bittorrents! Bad! Bad! We, Comcast, will openly and blatantly BLOCK your damned bittorrent, and you shall NOT commune with your tracker! And where is the government in this “only game in town” deal? Probably they have actually noticed that Comcast is unable to handle the load any more, but have they cleared the decks for some new start-ups to get going and for some new and brilliant technology to simplify and ease the whole situation? In a word, no.

If have no problem with Comcast blocking BitTorrent. If you want to use bandwith, pay for it.

Jerry,
It’s almost like it’s getting to the point that capitalism means, in some people’s minds, that the market should stagnate and technological advances should stop, rather than letting natural competition flourish and letting the market decide what it wants.
I’m very much pro-capitalism, but I’m much more of a purist. IBM may be a dinosaur, but the reason they’re still around is that they didn’t say “computers will ruin our competition. let’s block them from being made through our influence.” Instead, they said, at the time, let’s make the best computers, ones that will crush our competition, and license what we think is the best operating system for it.
Paul,
Hello, that’s the whole point. See if you can stay with me here….
I AM Paying for it, Already, and NOT getting what I Already paid for. If they wanted to change the payment plan, I’d still pay for it, even if it was more expensive. What they’re doing is blocking traffic that LOOKS like BitTorrent even if it has nothing to do with it. Then on top of that, they ARE charging me.

Switched to Verizon DSL, and DirecTV, both of which go down less often than Comcast did.
Couldn’t be happier. I’ve invited neither to “have a party with my middle finger”. My finger is now free to party with the religious right.
