Yahoo And Ask, Great Fall Back Search Engines

There should be an image here!I’ve been a faithful and generally satisfied Google user for years now. But like many folks out there have found that both Ask and Yahoo! provide a close second, for the search results sought.

Can’t say that I have tried this recently myself, but I do know that both work well enough as alternate search engines in general.

As expected, Bing is just not as “big”, in the results realm as of yet. Likely due to its newness more than anything, there is something to be considered though when Bing is being beat out by a third party search engine like Ask. Both offer about the same level search result, yet despite Microsoft’s ad blitz, Ask wins.

Faithful Bing user since it came out. I use Google very rarely and haven’t noticed much of a difference in “relevancy”. I prefer Bing because I like the image search and video search. Bing has an excellent video search base; I almost always find what I’m looking for right away. I’d say that Bing’s results are a matter of taste-if you’re a longtime Google or Yahoo! user, then maybe you’ll think that Bing is not as mature as older search engines. Give it time.

I never use Ask or Yahoo!, though. Yahoo! seems like a major eyesore these days.

I prefer Ixquick.com, also run as startpage.com. They don’t keep records of your searches. They used to keep them for 60 days – now they don’t even save them. Results are as good as Google, at least for my uses.

Bing maps are as good as Googles’, but with the added aerial view so you can see what you’re looking at as if flying by in a plane, rather than just the straight-down satellite view.
