Do Background Images For Search Engines Matter?

There should be an image here!Bing to be frank, it’s a spiced up version of Alta Vista or HotBot. Accurate? Meh, it’s not bad by any means. But the truth is that it’s Microsoft’s usual too little, too late campaign of wasted effort in my own honest opinion.

To be ultimately fair, Google has a few badges in the world of stupid as well. Bugs in Google Docs, privacy problems at Buzz’s launch and so on.

But the idea that Google is in any way threatened by Bing, makes about as much sense as watching one of those mindless Bing commercials. The only thing I’ve seen Bing get right is how they categorize some info, but that’s about it.

No, not at all IMO. If anything they distract the user. I love how Google was simple, with it’s white background. I really think users who Google 50 times a day care if they have a background or not. They see it for 10 seconds before they click “Search”.

I don’t really care what the background image of a search engine looks like because I’m going to only there for just a few seconds anyway. What I do love is when Google change their font to suit a certain occasion. I love all things kawaii so when I click on Google and see Cookie Monster staring at me it makes me smile. Subtle but it works.

I don’t like the Bing images, they distract. And they don’t surface information about the image, you have to click-through to learn anything about where the image was taken. Lame.
