Google didn’t mean to. How often do we hear those words? None too often, from my own recollection. But according to this piece from the NYTimes, that is exactly what they are saying about their latest bout of drama.

Apparently Google messed up when using their street view car to do more than merely collect street/location data. They apparently were also “accidentally” war driving at the same time.

I cannot even tell you how totally understandable this genuinely is. Really, all the time I find myself driving to the store and I accidentally start war driving with my laptop without even realizing that I am doing it. Seriously Google? Spare us the line of BS, please.
