Bing Bam Opps Outage
Bing is new and bound to have its growing pains. This is to be expected. What is not normally to be expected however, is an hours long outage for search. Then again, Google has had search outages themselves before.
Apparently the outage caused when an internal configuration change got too much of Bing’s chocolate into Microsoft’s peanut butter. In other words, they tried to configure something that then screwed things up.
One area I give huge props in humor to is the Bing team joking when their search service was back up. “Bing’s back, you can stop using Google now.” Well played, guys. Well played indeed. That actually made me smile.
