Google Opens Up Ads Locally

Surprisingly, I think I love this idea of flat rate ad prices for local businesses. Despite still being in the testing phase at this point, Google is clearly feeling good about their latest advertising efforts.
What remains unclear however, is how non-local advertisers are going to feel about this should the program roll out nationwide? I mean, flat rate pricing for one group and not for the other, is not likely to go over well forever.
But on the flip side, it should be noted that the competition does not require an auction…yet. This will likely change if the program is a success, but for the time being it seems that local advertisers could soon be in for a real treat to attract new web savvy customers.
