Crawl On My Ajax

So while the above title might sound a bit off, the fact of the matter is this is exactly what some people are wondering. Should search engines begin crawling Ajax pages?
Google maintains the argument that if we did support Ajax web crawling, it would significantly improve the web and search as we know it. After all, it is all about content and not how it is offered. But would this merely add to the problem seen with black hat SEO?
At the end of the day, I think we are a ways off before we will see any level of adoption with trying to spider through tons of Ajax websites. With things heating up in the search engine works however, it is possible that either Google or Bing might very well throw caution to the wind, but I think it is early yet.
