Google Battle With Twitter Rages On

While Twitter is fast becoming the self-proclaimed kings of real-time search, Google offers up something far more interesting in Hot Trends blended into their search results.
Obviously, this is likely to appeal to a different audience than those looking for Twitter results in their search queries. But still, the idea of the hottest Google Trends being included in the Google search results is overdue to say the least.
So will this help Google compete in this new fangled real time search arena? Possibly, although I suspect that once the initial buzz wears off and the lack of staying power becomes self-evident, Google may once again end up shifting gears with this.
