Head To The Clouds
I keep hearing about all of these companies dumping Microsoft for something Web based, but I have yet to see a lot of evidence to support this. While there are going to be inherent advantages for some apps to be browser based in nature, some applications such as Office are not likely to be among them.
To be fair, I dislike using MS Office as much as the next guy. But I am not entirely sure I am ready to start trusting the “cloud” to host all of my important documents. And relearning a new spreadsheet program is not likely to prove successful with most folks.
No, I don’t believe that most businesses are ready to make the switch to the cloud. At least not completely. Some stuff may be better when served from a browser, but there are still a number of legacy applications that are not among them
