VC Money Down The Tubes?
I honestly have no gripes about venture capitalists that choose to throw their money away on failing Web 2.0 companies. But it does seem like the funds are being handled rather recklessly when you consider that if a company is in this bad of shape, it might be time to let it die peacefully.
Four Square is destined to move into either a failed company, or perhaps it can reinvent itself into something people want to actually use. So while it is likely that this company’s new found funding will help in getting them scaled to a usable state, I am just not convinced it is going to work out.
I will go on record as stating that the idea behind Four Square sounds cool, but I am just not all that convinced that it can be monetized to a degree where this then turns into a worthwhile investment. Speaking for myself, I would have put my money elsewhere I think.
