DOJ Says No to YahooSoft

There should be an image here! The very idea that bundling Microsoft and Yahoo together frankly is not holding the kind of weight it might once have. And while some might speculate that Yahoo and Bing partnership would prove to be a good thing, I really tend to question this as I see it as leading to even less choice.

Look, I know this might come as a real shock to some of you, but I am not interested in seeing more search engines. No really, it’s true. All I want is one that is actually providing me with what I am searching for. And speaking honestly, Google does a pretty solid job of that.

So if the DOJ deems that the idea of a Microsoft/Bing and Yahoo partnership is a bad idea, I do not really have a problem with this myself. I mean come on, it’s not like we are actually going to see an increase in competition.

Seems to me that an integration between the two companies will be more a financial and opportuinistic make up than a real “industrial” integration.

Microsoft will benefits achieving a search engine (which Yahoo has been and is, despite its CEO opinion) with some market and financial problems.

Yahoo will benefit by getting fresh new cash.

That will be drained by Microsoft.

And that’s why in my opinion, Dow Jones is scared.
