A Canadian Recommendation Engine?

Looks like our neighbors (or neighbours for my Canadian readers) are getting ready to rock their own social media search engine of sorts. And based on what I am reading here, this latest recommendation engine appears to take on an interesting twist.
Apparently one can even use the social networking function to introduce advertisers recommended by the user’s friends. Not entirely sure how that works as this press release is pretty vague, but it sounds pretty interesting nonetheless.
What I find most interesting, is how people will respond to recommended advertising. Sure, it sounds pretty interesting. But will it stand up when the chips are down? That remains to be seen.
