Do you Yahoo? If you do for search, then the chances are very good that you will soon be Binging for those search results once this Microsoft-Yahoo deal comes to fruition.
What will be interesting, is whether this improves Yahoo in any clear way or if instead, it just becomes a silly co-branded mess for both companies. Because let’s face it, two companies heading into the same path like this often times leads to a co-branded mess above all else.
What strikes me the most is the message behind why Yahoo would agree to this in the first place. As one Microsoft type put it – Bing takes away from Yahoo’s market share out of the box, not Google’s. See, Google’s following is going to take a lot more than lame toolbars and commercials. Yet with the Yahoo crowd, arguably mostly less sophisticated, it’s easy pickins’.
