Blogging Expectations Continue To Be Unrealistic

There should be an image here!I was a bit surprised that anyone took this article seriously, as some individuals apparently did. Allow me to make something perfectly clear: while it is nice to believe that bloggers and journalists are not for sale, it is time to wake up and smell the Folgers.

If a check is written by a big enough company, I am willing to wager that you would be shocked at the number of bloggers out there that are willing to bite. But would I go so far as to call most bloggers lapdogs? Not really. The fact of the matter is that many tech blogs have been “too close” to companies and people they are reporting on for years. While I myself find it to be a real shame, I also am able to spot a sell out post pretty easily as well.

The easiest way around this is to simply stop reading content from those who are clearly not abiding by the same standards that you would like to see. It’s simple, effective and requires a whole lot less whining on the part of the readers. Web blogging like anything, is something we are all free to participate in. Best of all, if you feel that blogs such as TechCrunch are stooping too low, you are free to voice your opinion in a blog of your very own! Amazing how that works.

I never thought of blogs as being all that important in the scheme of things.

I have a loyal following of people who like to see me struggle with this world of tech.

Some of them even buy the products I buy… But I never see myself as a journalist.

Though I agree with the majority of your post, to simply not read a blog is of great ignorance. understand the bloggers stance, understand the likely hood of being paid off, and you know what he writes is probably the best aspects of a product and it wont get any better than that… Use that knowledge to understand this is maybe the truth stretched, as opposed to being ignorant and getting a more truthful bloggers speculation. Much knowledge can be gained by keeping your enemies close kind of a thing.
