Semanti Means Browser Add-Ons For Search

There should be an image here!I was looking forward to trying out Semanti today after reading this article about it. Sadly, my interest went to zero when I discovered that it requires a Firefox add-on. Don’t get me wrong, I am sure that I could have avoided this by allowing it to connect Facebook, but again, I just want to find stuff - not take on a new lifestyle with Semanti.

The idea of Semanti providing me with a human touch to search does have a certain appeal, but I think I might be more likely to simply use an alternative as I am just really turned off with not being presented with a search box to  get started.

To be fair though, I do realize that this is social search we are talking about. And somewhere, there are people who are not already overburdened with add-ons that would be thrilled to take this for a spin. As far as I can tell though, this does not look like something most people are going to get too excited about. I simply fail to see how this is better than other human powered efforts in the search arena?
