First of all, I don’t care who did what first or if Farrell is wrong while Schoemaker is said to be right after the dust settles. In my mind, this whole thing is way out of hand. What I will say is that Google employees really should not be in a position to where AdWords is something that can be used by these individuals.
The idea of Google employees using either AdWords or AdSense really bothers me as there is most certainly potential for abuse without proper oversight. To be clear, I am not stating that there has been wrong doing, rather pointing out the potential for extreme conflict of interest.
Again, this should be commonsense 101 because if this kind of thing is allowed to happen again, with Google employees being able to use AdWords for any sort of gain at all, more PR hassles will be just around the corner.

Tough expectations that employees cannot use the product they help to produce. That is like expecting every person that works in a Ford production plant to fill the employee parking lot with Toyota and Nissan cars. Doesn’t say much for faith in product.
