Go Home Chrome
Speaking for myself, as a Linux user and with my wife being the Mac user, Chrome can kiss off. Seriously, we are still waiting for something not based on WINE and frankly, it feels like Firefox will have two versions released before Chrome even goes into beta.
Even more comically, Google has decided that we need to simply avoid using the ever-buggy test releases available now as we might become frustrated due to it still be pretty much an alpha level product. Again, really? They are still unable to get the browser to a point to where it should not crash on other OS’?
One person in the comment thread for the article linked above had it right I think. Google is clearly, just trying to keep this tired effort in the news for as long as possible. As to why, I think most of us know that answer. It’s that new search engine in town getting all the press. Clearly someone does not like sharing.
Update: Apparently there is some confusion between Chromium and well, Chrome/Chromium. One is based on WINE and one is not. Both leave a LOT to be desired in my opinion. As for a recent email I received about my point on Firefox releasing two releases before Chrome even gets their first out, let’s read the statement above again closely.
“…it feels like Firefox will have two versions released before Chrome even goes into beta.”
Show me where I said that Firefox DID come out with two releases? I stated clear as day a feeling I had, nothing more.

Neither Chrome nor Chromium are based on Wine.
Codeweavers did package up an early version of Chromium
for Windows with Wine, and called the result CxChromium;
you can see it at
http://www.codeweavers.com/services/ports/chromium/
But that has zero to do with the Linux port of Chrome or
Chromium, it was just for fun.
[I'm one of the Chrome Linux developers, and I was also
a Picasa for Linux developer; Picasa is the only Google
product that has ever used Wine.]
