Bing To Get Hammered Over Live Thumbnails?

There should be an image here!Since Bing’s first preview going live, it seems that pretty early on there has been concern overhow the revamped search engine is handling fair use with regard to the content being spidered.

First of all, fair use does not mean that you can take any copyrighted content and do as you wish with it. As established fairly early on with search engines, it is accepted that one can use thumbnails is fine. However with Microsoft using extensively long video previews of what some are stating as paid adult content, there is apparently concern that the adult industry might come after Microsoft over this.

After exploring the issue with some creative commons video, mainstream stuff, I discoved that you can actually click through on the video to a larger version, totally devoid of ads from the original website. This is going create massive legal headaches for Microsoft I suspect.

There is porn on the internet?

You deactivated your filter, bad boy ;)

If you read the comments further down the article it is noted that these are NOT full length videos but rather previews. It is a post to amend the original article. The amendment should have been placed at the TOP of the article being offered. I have looked at several non-porn videos and found that there is nowhere near enough of the video shown to really even give you a decent idea as to what the video is about.

It will definately be interesting to see who comes after Microsoft and how fast they do so.

I am sure that Microsoft made a calcualted decision to do this knowing the possible ramification.

Another thing to watch and see.

it seems like Microsoft is having a search engine identity crisis
