Bing To Get Hammered Over Live Thumbnails?
Since Bing’s first preview going live, it seems that pretty early on there has been concern overhow the revamped search engine is handling fair use with regard to the content being spidered.
First of all, fair use does not mean that you can take any copyrighted content and do as you wish with it. As established fairly early on with search engines, it is accepted that one can use thumbnails is fine. However with Microsoft using extensively long video previews of what some are stating as paid adult content, there is apparently concern that the adult industry might come after Microsoft over this.
After exploring the issue with some creative commons video, mainstream stuff, I discoved that you can actually click through on the video to a larger version, totally devoid of ads from the original website. This is going create massive legal headaches for Microsoft I suspect.
