Twitter Blows Doors Off Of Other High Volume Web Sites
Twitter is unlike anything I have personally ever seen in my own lifetime. Unlike Digg, Reddit or other high traffic Web sites, Twitter has managed to shoot up to 32 million visitors in what seems like hardly any time at all. What I think makes it work is the fact that its free, provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and of course, allows its users to really express themselves.
Despite this success, I think Twitter is still working to get its land-legs with regard to a steady business model. While they clearly have a grip on their followers, finding a means of revenue outside of venture capitalists seems to be a bit of a miss thus far.
Still, with the talk about Twitter using twitter tools as a source of revenue for pro level users, we might very well see the birth of something that could financially amount to the next big thing. Might not be a Google size success, but it could still be significant.
