Twitter Replies Gone Wild

There should be an image here!Twitter is hardly perfect. Regardless, at least they are pretty good about disclosing their shortcomings as they become evident on their blog. As many users discovered today, Twitter replies are not always fool proof. In some cases, such as today, they simply fail to make it to their destinations.

Thankfully, most people realize that Twitter is a free service that may not always be as reliable as we con ourselves into believing. In the end, it is one of those “you get what you pay for” type deals.

All of the kind words aside, I am one of those who was affected by Twitter replies going into space. And yes, I was rather flustered while making sure to try out some new colorful metaphors just to add to the mood. So I do understand the frustration had my most Twitter users. But at the same time, I also came to accept that disappearing replies was a fact of life for the moment.

Well Ron, I’m not so sure I agree with you about the Internet stifling creativity. I think just the opposite. I believe the Internet has done amazing things to enable everyday Joe and Jane to express theirselves in any myriad of manners they choose.

I like “just the facts”, too, when reading news or informational material. However, a little editorial comment is not necessarily a bad thing. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of what we read online these days is nothing more than editorializing. We have the ability to “follow” those who make the most since to us; and leave the others by the wayside.

The Internet still reflects the real world quite accurately, I believe. When it comes to the human social animal, you can often find “the beef” in our interactions, but the vast majority is meat by-products. This comment is a good example of the latter.

    Regards, old friend…
