Australia Goes Back In Time To 1984 - Orwellian Style

Based on my own contacts in Australia, I am hearing a growing concern over the recent events involving web censorship. As it turns out, it has recently been announced that even linking to websites that are linked to websites that contained content deemed as harmful content, is against the law in this country on the fast-track to becoming a tough police state.
While there is no question that everyone out there wants to prevent people from viewing content that is illegal, where we see lines being crossed is how Australia’s government is now becoming the morality police.
It seems that adults making their own calls as to content choices for their own households is not an option any longer. Anyone out there care to start taking bets as to how long it will be before the Aussie government begins deeming content seen as “subversive” as unlawful as well? I am wondering how far this will go before people storm the capital to take back their country in this part of the world?

Just FYI the filter is still in the testing phase and I doubt that they will ever get the opportunity to put it in place as there are too many people opposing it

Won’t happen. The govt will just decrease the tax on beer and we’ll all stop caring ;)

It won’t take long! This subversive program from a repressive Australian government spells the end of democracy here.
We are being crushed under the weight of moralistic technocrats that want to monitor and decide our every move and thought.
The religious right is wielding far too much influence and threatens to turn us into a theocratic state with wowsers under every bed watching our every move.
We are already planning to storm Canberra, we already had huge turnouts at protest marches, the end of the Ruddski government is near. He will be trounced at the next election. He is totally unpopular here because of this failed policy, with the majority of Australians dead against his extremism.

*wouldn’t consider them technocrats when they have no real idea about the tech they are trying to play Frankenstein to.*
The most amusing thing is that in many countries, when presented with evidence as to theit lies/misdeeds many own up to the fact. In our country when presented with a transcript of a prior speech/comment etc in regards to ‘just what are you trying to do here?’ our comms minister just gives you a blank look, switches off the outside reactionary recognition sectors of his brain and spouts what has been fed into his data hole that morning about what the policy now is. ( see: ‘Always has been’ )

Wow Papo ..People Power is a thing of the past - in this politically correct society that we live in. There is unjust only as the Government of the day dictates.
Orwell wrote his Book in 1949 .. it may have taken 50 years to get this far ..but we will reach all stages incrementally, we are making excellent progress.
