Google Chrome – It’s Like Pinball

There should be an image here!In all seriousness, the following soon to air on TV commercial is even more pointless that the winning video for the recent Linux Foundation commercials.

To even begin to point out how completely irreverent that video is, does not even begin to be enough to express my confusion as to the message presented. One can only hope this is not a commercial that is supposed to be aired in the West as I can promise you, no one is going to understand what the point is!

Even worse, those who do know what it is, are either using Chrome already or simply not interested in the first place. Apparently, this is something Google is not considering.

actually, it’s more like breakout than pinball.

At first I didn’t get it – but then when the browser icons started flipping over – then I started to get it.

To me, the message is – it’s fast & uncluttered.

I don’t think it’s going to air in Japan – because if it were, it’d probably be in Japanese, not English. Most of the commercials I’ve seen on Japanese tv (I live in Okinawa) are in Japanese, and use Kanji.

my apologies – I went back and looked at the original video – it was _developed_ by Google Japan. So that doesn’t necessarily mean it will air on Japanese tv.

Going back and watching it a second time – I could see, right from the start, how they were “panning” the other browsers – big clunky stuff on the left side of the screen, big bloated thing at the top of the screen.

I think it makes more sense, the more you watch it.

While it may be completely irrelevant to what they’re advertising, I think it’s really well done.
I’ve watched it a few times now, and I like it a lot.

Sure, it might not be a great move for Google to spend the money to put this on TV, seeing as it doesn’t get much of a point across, but I think it’s well done, even if it should just remain on the Internet.

Are you serious? The West has more irrelevant, embarrassing and stupid tv commercials than I could even list down in a blog.

And even a 5 year old would understand what the point is in that ad.. One word: “decluttering”. Doh!

I don’t think you are giving people much credit….I understand it just fine…they used stop motion to simulate the old “Brick” game and as it removes blocks it shows the browser…basically it means “use chrome because it removes the clutter and simplifies the web”

That’s not Pinball, it’s breakout/arkanoid.

I just saw that commecial on hulu.com

I liked it and understood it right away.
