Google News In A Timeline

googleDo we really need a new way to Google things? Seems that Google feels that we do, even to the extent that they are seeking to create a new means of providing similar data to what you initially queried. One of their latest Lab’s projects reflects this well as Google seeks to further define relevant…especially if the person doing the query is not even aware that the similar info that is about to be displayed is going to be exactly what is needed.

This mindset has been recently applied to Google News Timeline. Using News Timeline, queries provide news in a relevant timeline regarding the queried event segregated by date. The Iraq war, first person on the moon, whatever it may be, the search result will show a timeline of articles for the event queried in the order they were published.

After playing with this latest Google Labs product, I have to say – not since Gmail have I found something coming out of Google Labs so fantastic to use. If Google can rework the query patterns a bit more, I would say this is more useful that the regular Google News page we are enjoying today.
