Gotta Love Hunch A Bunch

Like most people, I tend to take any news of a new “Web 2.0 project with a grain of salt. However as I read more about the concept of an up and coming website known simply as “Hunch”, I found myself becoming more intrigued by the moment. Think of it this way. A website/service that is designed to help you to make the best decisions possible despite not really knowing which direction to take at first pass. Yeah, this is a pretty tall order.

The history behind the concept, still in beta by invitation is one that borders on predictability. Currently Hunch’s head kahoona also happens to be one of the founders of Flickr. So I think it is safe to say that hunch has someone who knows what they are doing at its helm.

As for whether or not this is going to also feel some of the issues that Flickr had with regard to being able to monetize the service, I guess that depends on whether or not they go after an ad revenue source of income or that of something with a paid membership.

    Matt -

I have seen some of the buzz on this site and I think it might be useful especially for noncritical thinkers – it doesn’t always come naturally. As a tool to start to working through a question or problem I suspect that it a site like this could add a virtual point of view to explore.

As for monetizing the site, this is always the challenge – make it a home run and let Google and Microsoft spar over it!

I came to the same conclusions for pretty much the same reasons. I also didn’t like the fact that my iTunes account would drop from my AppleTV whenever the computer it was linked to went to sleep. Jumping from my iPhone to my TV was cool, just not enough to make it my preferred device.

We’ve had a Roku for almost two years and love it! We use it more than we use our TiVo Premiere in terms of watching recorded broadcast shows AND in use of apps that are available on both the Roku and TiVo. When we added Hulu Plus to the mix, it was all over….Roku rocks! Get the PlayOn service for it as well and you can *almost* cancel your cable because then you can access the standard content on Hulu as well!
