Not so fast.

It’s a good idea to consider these things before you sign the contract - because a stalled campaign will cost you money, even if it is just lost opportunity cost.

Access to and Control of Your Web site

You may be ready to do whatever it takes to take the steps necessary for a successful SEO campaign. Your IT team, on the other hand, may have ultimate control of the Web site. This only makes sense - an internal IT team that controls the Web site knows the ins and outs and doesn’t want anyone jeopardizing the functionality of the site. However, an SEO campaign will usually require extensive changes to the site - and you don’t want to hit a brick wall when you bring recommended changes to the IT staff or ask them to give your search engine optimization company access to the testbed. Thanks for this helpful advice on SEO and outsourcing. I think it’s true that often businesses could benefit from delegating some of their professional-level services to an outside expert. As someone that works with small businesses and also small business tech professionals, I know how important outsourcing this type of work can be, particularly when you’re not an expert yourself (which most small business owners are not!) and you don’t have an in-house IT department. Not only can it help improve efficiency of systems and business strategies, but it can also help get the job done more thoroughly and correctly so there are not emergencies later on.
