Keep In Mind With Logo Design

When it comes to creating a logo for your new Web site or project, you can never be too careful. Some people just slap out a design and call it a day. Others work for hours and hours getting it perfect before the public gets to see it. Which is the better method to use? I would say your best bet would be to find a place in the middle.

First thing you need to do is have a good idea in mind. You might play with a pun in your name as well. Something like using a moon in the logo if your name has the word “space” in it. With the world of Web 2.0 growing bigger and bigger every day - it looks like the trend right now is to use light colors and make it simple. Now if you want to follow the pack or break away from it, that will be your call to make.

Another thing you might consider is to create the logo in multiple sizes as well. I know I have done a couple of logo designs where I didn’t save a large version of it and I was hurting for it in the long run. A lot of print media out there wants big graphics when you submit logos and ads to them. This way they can resize them to fit the resolution they need. Also if you plan on doing any banner design or pretty much anything else with the logo you’ll want something that is more flexible to use. So even if it is for yourself, saving a large version is a must.

Last but not least I have to say there are a number of folks out there that will do this type of work for you. It might cost a pretty penny, but if you don’t have an artistic bone in your body this might be the way to go.
