Should You Hire A Copywriter?

  • No Related Post

We all want the best content the Web can deliver but we are not all the greatest writers in the world. Now don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t take a team of Stephen Kings to deliver great content, but it wouldn’t hurt. So should you hire a copywriter to rewrite some of your Web pages or add new articles to your Web site?

Here is what Wikipedia says about copywriters:

On Web sites, copywriting may also refer to the methods of writing and wording used to achieve higher rankings in search engines. Often referred to as content writing, it includes the strategic placement and repetition of keywords and keyword phrases on webpages. As search-engine algorithms get smarter every day, this Search engine optimization (SEO) copywriting is more and more about writing for human visitors as well as for search engines, about offering fluent and readable content written in a SEO-wise manner.

Now what is the good side about hiring a copywriter? You can get fresh content that is well written on your Web site. Maybe you want to get away from your own content writing style and get a fresh look on things. Everybody writes differently — so you would be in good standing there. Also the search engines love good content, so a well written article here or there could do wonders for rankings and help other people interested in your area of expertise find you faster.

What are the negative things you have to watch out for? Like in any area of life there are crooks here as well. Watch out for people who just like to “farm” out their articles and posts to gain popularity. You could end up getting the same series of articles that a hundred of a thousand other Web sites have. Make sure you make the point that you want exclusive content and you should be okay there. Also watch out for people who sell out other people’s work. Ask for a few examples, and then search around to see if you can find these examples elsewhere online.
