Criteo - AutoRoll Widget

If there’s one thing that bloggers love more than experimenting with widgets, it’s traffic. No, not traffic on the highway, but traffic to their blogs. When you’re first starting out with this thing called blogging, it’s not always easy to gain qualified incoming traffic to your content, which can be discouraging. However, there are ways to expand your audience, and recommendations from other Web sites are a great solution for this.

About a month ago, I mentioned that Criteo (a company that I serve as a technical evangelist for) was looking for beta testers to experiment with a piece of technology that they were working on. At this time, Criteo has opened it up to the public, and they’re ready to get you rolling with AutoRoll.

Essentially, AutoRoll is a widget that automatically displays links to blogs that are similar to yours, and in turn, the content of these suggested blogs is likely to be enjoyed by your readers. The Criteo recommendation engine computes these blog affinities in real-time, and they’re based off of reader traffic.

Not only can you expect to receive incoming traffic from blogs that are similar to yours and have AutoRoll installed, but you’ll also provide your readers with a relevant list of Web sites to check out, which is beneficial to them. These recommendations truly benefit all involved parties.

It only take a couple of minutes to install the AutoRoll widget, and its size and color can be tweaked to perfection for display on your blog. A private reporting module is also included to give you detailed statistics on impressions and click-through rates to and from your blog.

For proof that AutoRoll can work, check out what Sexy Widget had to say about their experience with the tool.

Just curious… You’re a technical evangelist for Criteo and plugging it in this post, but why aren’t you using the widget on your blog?… I was just about to install it on mine but the fact that you haven’t added it to yours give me pause.
