Create JavaScript Graphic Galleries

It seems like almost every time I turn around there is a new way of using JavaScript to make things look better. Now I know a lot of folks block it, due to security reasons - but that is another post for another day. When used for the power of good, JavaScript can be a powerful tool for any serious Web developer.

Need an example? Well, one that I have run across here lately is JonDesign’s SmoothGallery.

Using mootools v1.0, this JavaScript gallery and slideshow system allows you to have simple and smooth (cross-fading…) image galleries, slideshows, showcases, and other cool stuff on your Web site…

Now if you look at this stuff and it all looks like it is in a different language, you are not alone. The best thing you can do is play with it and see what you can do to get it to work for you. JonDesign’s SmoothGallery is a light weight package, coming in at only 16 kb. This is the perfect tool for anybody to use to get their Web site’s feet wet when it comes to getting into JavaScript eye candy.

Check it out and see it in action, and then play with it and let me know what you create.
