Favicon Picker 2

  • No Related Post

Not too long ago, I shared the fact that my bookmark toolbar menu doesn’t have any text on the bookmarks I have listed there. Text takes up too much room, and why is it needed when you have a favicon for the Web site? The only problem to that is that not every Web site has a favicon to pick. That is where Favicon Picker 2 comes into the picture.

What is Favicon Picker 2 all about? Here is what the author of the extension has to say about it.

This extension adds a UI for replacing bookmark icons. This extension is based on the version posted in MozillaZine. It also features an increased icon size limit. It is localized for English and French.

After you install it, right click on any bookmark and you should see a new option to replace the favicon with one you have on your local machine. Now it might take some work in your favorite graphic editor of choice to get things going, but once you do it does save a lot of time.

For folks that can associate Web sites in their mind better with an icon than the text, this is the perfect tool to use. It doesn’t just look cool - it also saves space so you can add even more favorite Web sites to your bookmark toolbar.

This extension is for Firefox versions 1.5 and up of the browser. To download it and pick it up for yourself, you can do so via the Mozilla Add-ons Web site.
