Bookmark Sync and Sort

Keeping your Firefox bookmarks in sync across multiple machines is a little difficult. Sure there are a lot of extensions that promise to give you what you need, but some of them fall short in the features. One of the latest ones that has caught my eye is Bookmark Sync and Sort.
Bookmark Sync and Sort is a Mozilla Firefox extension that lets you connect to an FTP/WebDAV server and synchronize your bookmarks that are stored in an XML file. Setup is easy; just write in your FTP/WebDAV server address, user name, password and a name for the XML file (by default called xbel.xml). To start, press Upload to create the file on the server and set if you want to automatically download the file on startup or sort and upload it when you close your browser.
As you see, the setup here is pretty simple and straight forward. Your browsers go looking for a file up on a server, and then sync your current bookmarks with that file. The thing that I really like about this setup is that you can use your own FTP space to do this in. I don’t have to worry about trusting some third party with my bookmarked files. That is nice.
This Firefox extension is for versions 1.0 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Add-ons Web site.
