Right on, this is great news for those looking to use IE with a little more safety. It seems that there is now a fix for the latest bug that was out here recently. Just one problem, it was not Microsoft who fixed it….open source anyone?
A group of software engineers who specialize in cracking code has delivered a patch for the new “zero day” flaw in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser, beating Redmond to the punch in addressing the critical vulnerability.
The Zeroday Emergency Response Team (ZERT), a group that consists largely of security experts, created the fix for the problem with Internet Explorer’s Vector Markup Language (VML) code that is used to display graphics in IE and Outlook applications.
Security companies have been warning that the software flaw is actively being exploited on certain Russian porn sites — and possibly elsewhere. The flaw reportedly lets hackers remotely hijack PCs and launch any code they want on those computers. Security firm Secunia has designated the vulnerability as “extremely critical.”…..
