Most “What You See Is What You Get” or WYSIWYG editors aren’t worth much. Sure there are a few that break that rule, but for the most part I have always said you are better off ignoring them. What if you could edit other people’s Web sites in this way? As long as it is for your own private use, I don’t see a problem with that. That is what the Mimulus Firefox extension brings to the dance.
What is this extension all about? Here is how the author of the Mimulus extension has to say.
It turns any tab into a WYSIWYG editor, enabling a cursor and letting you change existing content just by typing in the browser window, or add new elements such as headings and lists using simple key combinations. It saves to your hard drive, has an option to let you edit the source, and is as minimally invasive as possible. It’s great for taking quick HTML notes.
This has the chance to become a really neat tool for personal surfing. You can quickly change something you don’t like, or add something that the content creator might have forgot. You don’t have to worry about insulting the content creator, because it saves it all to your own hard drive. They don’t even have to know you used it.
This Firefox extension is for versions 1.5 and up of the browser. To pick up your copy all you need to do is download it via the Mozilla Add-ons Web site.
