We have all seen the Google personalized homepage by now. It is neat and simple, but what if you could get it in a Firefox sidebar? You would think then the usability factor would go way up. You can do so, but to make it easier on you - check out the IGoogle Sidebar Firefox extension.
Here is what the author of the extension has to say about it.
View your Google Personalized Home page modules in the sidebar with an optimized layout. This extension was inspired by a tip posted by Erica Joy on her blog http://www.ericabaker.com/]. Erica suggests to create a bookmark to your Google Personalized Home page and to open it in the sidebar using a built-in feature of Firefox.
This trick works great - or at least it did worked great until either Google changed the code of the page or the new Firefox 1.5.0.6 changed the actual layout, making it unusable (squeezed 3 times horizontally). This extension aims at reproducing the feature initially described in the trick, with additional features.
I never really used the Google personalized home page till I found this neat extension. Now using it seems a little more useful, because I can pack all that info into my Firefox sidebar.
This Firefox extension is for versions 1.5 and up of the browser. To pick up your copy all you need to do is download it via the Mozilla Add-ons Web site.
