DownloadHelper

The Web is a fabulous thing. You can gather a number of images, sounds and videos in a matter of seconds. The only problem is that there is no quick and easy way of getting this done. Saving a number of galleries is always a pain in the rear. Well, that was the case till I found the DownloadHelper Firefox extension.

Here is what the developer of the extension has to say about it.

DownloadHelper is a tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.

Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item

For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, you’ll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm and others.

DownloadHelper also allows you to download files one by one, so that you keep bandwidth to surf for other stuff to download. If you are on a page containing video, but you don’t get a download offer from DownloadHelper, right-click on the icon and choose “Check URL”, requests will be done to VideoDownloader.net and KeepVid.com. Allow a few seconds and new entries may appear in the menu.

This Firefox extension is for versions 1.5 and up of the browser. To pick up your copy all you need to do is download it via the Mozilla Add-ons Web site.

What about using it to download image files through a .php link? I have not been able to get this to work properly, or find any useful info on it.

Thanks.
