SearchWith

  • No Related Post

We all want a quicker, better and faster way of searching for things. Thankfully there is more than one way to becoming a searching master from within Firefox. Now you have the default search box in the upper right corner, but sometimes that just does not do the job. What if you want to search a term you see on a Web site? That is where SearchWith comes into play.

Here is how the developer of SearchWith explains the extension.

Search selected text with various search services.

SearchWith extension allows you to search selected with various search services. It adds a “Search With” sub menu on the context menu (right-click menu) with a configurable list of search services that can be used to search the highlighted text.

SearchWith encourages a simple context sub-menu by allowing one search engine per search service.

Now this is much like the extension I talked about a few days ago called termBlaster. The difference here is that SearchWith has a prettier interface, and a few more bells and whistles.

The SearchWith extension also has a very neat “manage” option which will allow you to manage which search engine is connected with a searching option. Many more details on this extension can be found at its Web page over at mozdev.org.

This Firefox extension is for versions 1.5 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Update Web site.

Hi

Thanks for writing about SearchWith. I’m the developer of SearchWith and right now, a new version (0.3) is being tested and localised. If you are interested, I can send you this unreleased version to try the new features.

Let me know if I should send it to you.
