Barracuda Image Saver

Find yourself wanting to save a lot of images, but you don’t want to do it the old fashioned way? The whole right clicking, save as technique is old. How about you try getting that done in a way that will not kill your brain cells while you work. The Barracuda Image Saver is a savior for anybody who wants to do bulk image saving.

Here is what the author of the Firefox extension has to say about it.

This extension will cycle through all open tabs. If a tab contains a single image, the image will be saved to disk and (optionally) the tab will be closed.

Each image will be stored in the base folder chosen in the options dialog. Alternatively, you can specify a folder in the browser address box: for example “~c:/images” before invoking the extension. (In the example above, change the slash to a backslash. The editor used to create this description removes backslashes) or, you can specify a sub-folder (e.g. ~sub) of the base-folder.

Now the next time your aunt or uncle sends you all those vacation photos via a Web site, and you want to save each and every one of them, your job is a lot easier. I also found this comment from the Mozilla Add-ons Web site interesting.

This works brilliantly with ‘Linky‘ and ‘Show the Image’…
I often get email that contains 15-30 thumbnails. I use ‘Linky’ extension to load the images into tabs. Then, if they were hosted by ‘Imageshack’ or the like, I right click on the ‘Show the Image’ icon on my customized toolbar & presto - just images w.o. the other window dressing / adverts. Then the coup de grace - I use ‘Bazzacuda Image Saver’ - also on my customized toolbar - to batch save the images to my hard drive.

This Firefox extension is for versions .7 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Update Web site.
