Resurrect Pages

Now I can’t exactly say I am an expert at bringing things back from the dead; despite what you hear about what I did with my pet hamster when I was ten. There is no need to break out the Necronomicon when just a Web site is down. I have a Firefox extension that will bring Web sites back from being digged or slashdotted to death.

Here is what the author of this extension has to say about it.

Dead pages, broken links, the scourge of the internet. Powerhouse sites like Slashdot and Digg can bring a server to its knees. What do we do when a page is dead but we still want to see it?

Call in the clerics, and perform a resurrection ceremony! Or, the easier route, use this extension.

Once installed you can search through five big Web page cache/mirrors: CoralCDN, Google Cache, Yahoo! Cache, The Internet Archive, and MSN Cache. No need to worry if your favorite mirror isn’t there! The extension developer says that more mirrors will be added in later versions of Resurrect Pages.

This Firefox extension is for versions 1.5 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Update Web site.
