Scuttle

Scuttle is another social bookmark and link sharing Web site, such as digg.com and del.icio.us. From what I have seen of Scuttle, they aren’t reinventing the round ball in that department of Web 2.0. One thing they have done right is put out a Firefox extension that is worth picking up if you are a fan of the services Scuttle provides.

The recipe for a social bookmarking Web site is simple. Add half a cup of tagging. Mix in links and dates. Cook at 500 degrees and serve it up to an audience who wants and needs it. As I said before, there is nothing really new here.

The Scuttle Firefox extension is better than some of the other extensions for other social bookmarking Web sites out there. Why do I like it so much? It is simple. It gives you a few toolbar buttons to use. Once you click, you submit the link and you are done. Don’t believe me? Just check out the screenshots of it in action.

You can also right click on a Web site if you want to add it to your list of Scuttle links as well. I think this can go out as a word of wisdom to all the Firefox extensions out there. The more simple you make the process of using the extension, the better it will be.

This Firefox extension is for versions 1.0 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Update Web site.

This was a good plugin for Firefox, but I wonder if there are any plans to update it for Firefox version 3?
