On March 8th, the first blogger contracted the Indie Virus and thousands of quality, but lesser known blogs have been affected.
Curiously enough, it turned out that other bloggers badly wanted to be infected as well, to pass the virus on to their blog, and then to spread it to others.
Paul Chaney’s Business Blog Consulting may have contracted this virus. Nancy P. Redford’s Practical Marketing Tips could also have it, not to mention Marshallk, Podblaze, Intent Blog, Jason Preston, Conversational Recruiting, Abundance Secrets, Just Ask Marc, Language Translation, Tim Bossie, Michel Fortin,, Sales Mindset, and Dan at Vitamin Maniac.
What’s the Indie Virus? Don’t worry, if you get it, it won’t crash your blog or make you sick.
It’s an experiment-turned-blog-phenomenon originated by Chris Pearson of Pearsonified.
The experiment, henceforth referred to as “The Indie Virus,” has two goals:
- To bring exposure to lesser known blogs (especially those outside of Technorati’s Top 100)
- To explore the metrics behind a viral linking campaign launched by the “little guys” (less popular blogs).
The Indie Virus: Catch it, spread it, and grow your traffic virally by spreading it to others.
