Looking at pictures and graphics through our browsers is one of the small joys in life that many of us take for granted. There are other ways of viewing those graphics, and you don’t have to keep them in the browser to do so. Image Assistant helps you bring those pictures into another program.
Here is what the Image Assistant developers have to say about this extension.
Launches an image in an external viewer, when user selects the context menu item provided, which is titled “Open Image…” and is located under View Image right-click menu item. This allows for zooming, printing, and other rich functionality not available in the browser.
One of the most popular image viewers would be the one built into most computers, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. There are other choices out there though. If you want more information on the project, you can check out the Image Assistant Web page over at MozDev.org.
This Firefox extension is for versions 1.5 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Update Web site.
