Google Page Creator Needs Help

  • No Related Post

Google has come out with another free tool, but it needs more work. First of all, the style sheet appears within the page instead of as an external style sheet. Who is gonna want to have their style sheets on every page? Image the maintenance.

Here are a couple of designs made with Google Page Creator (requires free registration for Gmail account. I have extra invites, so contact me if you want one): Dori Smith and Drew McLellan. Tag soup city (these are very basic pages, but the code makes it look like they’re dynamic and have a bunch of bells and whistles.). Dori’s doesn’t have it, but Drew’s has the dreaded <font>. Yikes! Here you can see the validation results of Dori’s page and Drew’s page.

Take a look at the validation errors. I’m shocked that Google produced an app that much such errors. Drew comments on the experience. Chris Casciano also comments on the problems.

When Meryl K. Evans isn’t shocked over bad code, she is busy as the Content Maven behind meryl.net and helps companies get better results through simple words that make a big impact. You can visit her blog or drop her a line.
